Hi Everybody,
This ones a bit jazzy but short. More of an experiment than anything else:
http://aymat.org/temp/audio/glitch-jazz-test.mp3
I playing around with recorded live instrument loops to get this style... its a lot of effects processing but I like the way live and electronic sounds work together. A little different but let me know what you think. Thank you - jdawg

Hi folks,
I'm a sound guy from Sydney and have recorded a bunch of my own tracks at home using old school ProTools 001 with a bunch of mic's (mainly an NT3, an AKG C2000-B, and a few sennheisers). Check them out on www.myspace.com/keyringjeans and let me know what you think of their sound. The mix's are pretty basic and probably need to be re-worked.
Cheers

And can be listened to here:
Retrospectful
All in all, I thought it came out pretty well ... and I anticipate making MILLIONS --- MILLIONS I TELL YOU!!!
Ahem ... sorry about that.
Actually, it's professionally mastered, and I believe it to be my best effort to date ... which isn't saying much because to date I've only the first and second and I've learned a lot since then so ...
... I digress ...
I just wanted to pop in and thank the kind folks here who supported me through this difficult, arduous, life challengin ... wait, I had fun ...
Never mind ... onto the next one.

Hah, can't think of a better band name, but this was pretty much a live recording done in two takes. I just want to hear some kind of feedback about it.

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM STUDIOJIMI AND LEESTER
Welcome to the forum!
PSW hosts this area for your use whether you be an amateur or professional or somewhere in between to post your songs or your productions here in order to get feedback from our other members of like consciousness. This includes the moderators but we mods are NOT here to be a Siskel and Ebert team. We rely on our membership to give other members their ideas and observations.
While we moderators may start the ball rolling when you post here, we expect the membership to voice their opinions in a positive helpful way.
With that said, we've been asked by the administration to ask all posters to please state clearly and early on in the post text just what type of feedback you are looking for from your submission.
For example, if it is just a rough little demo of a ditty you are posting, let us know what you want the song evaluated, NOT the mix or production. Please be clear.
If you want mix tips for your song, let us know that so the listener can focus from the beginning on why you posted. A little information always yields a better understanding and communication.
In some cases you may want any general feedback from all aspects of the presentation of your song. If this is the case, please let your readers know what you want from them from the start.
Producer and writers can have varied reasons for submitting a song here and we need to be clear so feelings don't get hurt needlessly and time doesn't get wasted on critiques that are unwanted.
Thanks for your participation in a forum that has the potential to really make a difference in the internet artistic community.
Collectively,
Studiojimi and Leester
HERE'S TO A GREAT LAUNCH INTO A NEW PHASE OF PSW FORUMS

Seems we got us merge here, which is fine by me.
(Name might be a lil harsh, but we can work on that.)
For starters, here's what I'd like to encourage posting in here, and how you can help us identify what it is you're looking for.
Start off by PUTTING IT IN THE SUBJECT LINE... cuz it sets the 'mood' before I even click on it.
It also FORCES YOU to think about what it is you want feedback on.
| Quote: | WIP - Song Title / Description
Note the "WIP" which is "Work In Progress"
Could be lyrics, could be an arrangement, anything you're NOT finished writing and arranging. Point being, yer asking for DIRECTION or CONFIRMATION on a tune you're working on, regardless of what stage it's in as long as it ain't DONE yet.
SFR - Song Title / Description
Note the "SFR" which denotes it's a "Song For Review" and you're looking for constructive (hopefully) comments on a tune you're pretty much done with writing. Might consider adding a verse, need an idea for a bridge, or you know the lyrics suck, but ya ain't changing the song structure.
These are 'allowed' to be a DEMO type recording. You can do whatever ya want and try to polish it up, and some people just naturally end up with keepers during the demo stage. I'm just sayin' it don't HAVE to be that way. It could be a 'live' cut from a rehearsal where you've worked it out with the band, or it could be you on the front porch with the acoustic.
Maybe it's you singing on top of a MIDI file you created for the explicit purpose of selling the SONG. Obviously, the mix ain't got much to do with anything at this point, especially if you don't intend to be the performer(s) on it anyways.
MFR - Song Title / Description
Note the "MFR" which denotes it's a "Mix For Review" and you're looking for critiques on the MIX. Actually at this point, you should probably have a name for the tune if yer recording it, but that's besides the point.
Use the "MFR" to denote you're in the final stages, and last minute suggestions like "More Bass" or "Drop the MIDI Horns and try a Kazoo" or whatever.
This is also the category you'd post in if all you're doing is recording & mixing ANOTHER band / artist / hack - with the understanding that creative suggestions may go unheard or shot down.
JAM - Song Title / Type of song
Note the "JAM" part. Do I really need to 'splain this one?
This is a good spot to put them lil groovin' ditties you accidentally (or intentionally) come up with but ain't got quite enough structure to call 'em a song. Bass & Drums jams, blues progressions, loop-constructed stuff is fine, but use yer head on the (c) issues.
Now postin' one of these means you want someone ELSE to jam with it. Refer to the seeds 'n stems concept there, cuz really this is the same thing - perhaps a lil more free-for-all in nature though.
|
Sooooo... start postin' stuff. Get creative and get busy.
Oh, don't get all bummed out if I re-title the subject line of your post cuz you didn't manage to read this up here first like I'm askin' ya to. I'll assume you understand.
One other lil tip - see that lil spot down below where you're typing your post that says "Post Notification" with an empty check box beside it? Check that lil box when you start a thread with something to review. That way you'll know for sure when someone has taken their time to listen to ya and tell you how wonderful you are.
Mo later.

Not really, just wanted to give a big "thank you" to everyone here. You all are more help than you know. Nothin' like another hundred-or-so pairs of ears to give their advice after your's are toast from mixing the same song for hours on end. Seriously, this forum rocks!
